Sheffield DA We are going camping at the week end what is the weather going to do ?
You could rush to you computer and print a weather map and work out your own forecast, or watch the weather person on TV. Or do you consult a Fir Cone or some seaweed ?
I have collected some old and not so old weather sayings - which prove to be correct more often than not. If you have any which are not listed below and would not mind sharing them, please contact us and if you don't mind we will put them here. "A red sky at night is a Sailor's delight, A red sky in the morning is a Sailors warning" ( I Know you use Shepherd ) "Evening Red and Morning Gray, are sure signs of a fine day, But Evening Gray and Morning Red, makes the camper shake his head" "When the rain comes from the east. It will rain for twenty four hours at least" "The farther the sight, the nearer the rain" "When the wind is in the east, Tis no good for man nor beast" "Long foretold, long last, Short notice, soon past. Quick rise after low, Sure sign of a Stronger blow" "Mackerel sky and mare's tails, Make lofty ships carry low sails." "Evening red and morning gray, helps the traveller on his way ! Evening gray and morning red, bring rain down on his head !! I like this next one even if its not true. Dirty Days hath September, April, June and November; From January up to May, The rain it raineth every day! All the rest have thirty one, Without a blessed gleam of sun, And if any of them had two-and-thirty. They'd be just as wet and twice as dirty.
