Sheffield DA Youth Page       Within Sheffield DA we have an active youth section for those aged 12- 21 who are able to take part in a variety of activities providing them a chance to make new friends, have fun & camp with others of a similar age. These activities take place throughout the year at our DA week end meets plus there are separate specific youth rallies & events regionally, nationally & internationally. In the past these have included water sports, paint balling, cycle rides, midnight walks & bar b que …( see photos ) For further details see the calendar of events or speak to a youth leader.... Youth are encouraged to be independent learning how to camp, cook for themselves, carryout basic first aid & map reading which is then assessed on a week end test to prove they are competent & able to look after themselves. This allows them to camp separately if they wish, go abroad on the FICC youth Rally & remain youth members until they are 21. Youth are generally supervised & accompanied on youth events by experienced adult youth leaders & assistants who are young at heart. If you are 12 -17 and interested in joining download a membership form from the club website or contact a youth leader. For children under 12 there is also a junior youth section with its own activities... PS for parents Some events have to be pre booked & payment will be required..... Some supervision / control by youth leaders & assistants who are all CRB checked Medical forms / details will be required . Hope to see you camping !   Youth Events & Activities 2009 21st March - Youth AGM to follow DA AGM at Ashover subject to sufficient youth attending. Come along to let us know what you would like to do in the coming year. Easter - FICC Youth Rally Spain once again our youth will be joining with others from Yorkshire to travel by coach & ferry to northern Spain for the FICC youth rally. For those booked to go don’t forget your animal costume to join Noahs Ark voyage to Spain 1st -4th May – join the DA for plenty of fun & sports, help run the youth penny fair to raise funds for activities throughout the year May 8-10th – Yorkshire region youth rally chance to mix, meet new friends & join in the fun with discos, sports & hogroast June 4th -7th Yorkshire region meet at Driffield, separate youth area, sports, mardi gras & pennon parade June 26-28th – Join Leeds DA for the bogey meet. Join in the downhill racing if you dare ! July 3rd -5th – National Youth Rally hosted by North West region near Rochdale Lets be “LOUD & PROUD” again chance to see old & new from through out the country mix, usual disco sports & Saturday evening fancy dress theme – “heroes & villans “ No coach is being organised from Yorkshire but there is a parents meet nearby so get your parents to bring you along. July 10-12th Volleyball meet to be hosted by North Warwicks DA at a new venue. Plenty of volleyball & lots more. There will be a test week end for anybody wishing to take their youth test & training will be arranged throughout the season – date in September & venue to be confirmed. Autumn youth rally date & venue to be confirmed –likely to be in October close to London with a trip to Thorpe Park theme park. Further events will take place & details will be added when available.
